Open AI for a living planet

We are a nonprofit that builds open-source artificial intelligence to help communities see environmental change early — starting with the coral reefs and coastal waters of Hong Kong.

Open science

We publish our data pipelines, models and findings openly, so anyone can verify, reuse and extend them.

Early warning

We turn raw environmental data into timely, localized insight — such as heat-stress alerts for reefs at risk.

Growing scholars

We mentor students and early-career researchers to solve real environmental problems with rigorous, responsible AI.

Our flagship project

ReefBeacon

ReefBeacon monitors coral bleaching risk and marine heatwave stress across Hong Kong's waters. It brings together open oceanographic data, clear dashboards and survey-photo analysis, helping scientists and volunteers act before, during and after heat-stress events.

How we work

  1. Ingest

We collect openly available ocean data and keep every quality check transparent.

  2. Analyze

Our models surface heat stress, bleaching risk and long-term trends.

  3. Act

Maps, dashboards and alerts help researchers, divers and coastal communities respond in time.
